This stunning First Edition of James, First Marquess of Montrose 1612-1650 is housed in a fine leather binding elaborately decorated in blind stamped gilt and incorporating the Royal Coat of Arms. It was published in 1903 by FE Robinson and Co. The book is number 174 of a limited 300 copies.
It's in very good condition with just some wear to the corners which has taken off a bit of the surface of the leather. The spine is sunned with further wear to the spine ends.
Inside, some of the pages are uncut along the fore-edge. There are no inscriptions and the pages are clean and bright with only occasional foxing. The tissue guard for the portrait frontispiece is detached.
Dimensions approximately 18.2cm x 11.6cm x 2.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
