This lovely antique edition of Selection of Thoughts from Joubert was published by Duckworth and Co in 1898. So the book is from the end of the Victorian era. Joubert was a French essayist and moralist.
This lovely book is bound in half vellum and green cloth with delicate floral detailing in gilt to spine. It's in very good condition with very slight bowing to boards and and light marking/toning to the vellum. The boards also show minor marking, with some small splash marks to the top of the boards.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and very occasional foxing. There is slight cracking to the gutter at the title page and the ribbon page marker is creased and detached.
Dimensions approximately 21.7cm x 14cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
