This stunning second edition in the original French of A L'Amie Perdue features a collection of the Poetry of Auguste Angellier. It was published in 1903 in Paris by Hachette et Cie. It features a very striking full Morocco binding by P. B. Sanford, with floral gilt to the boards and spine. There is a monogram 'R.F.' in gilt to the front board - possibly standing for Ros and Fay as their names are inside with the date 1911. The spine features five raised bands and top edge gilt.
It's in very good condition but the spine does show some sunning and discolouration. There is also very light fading around the edges of the boards. There is light wear to the external joints, with minor loss to the surface of the leather. The boards are very slightly bowed.
Inside, there are silk endpapers and gilt inner dentelles. There are two penned names and a date to one of the preliminary pages. The pages show age toning and occasional foxing and handling marks. The silk endpaper on the FFEP is coming slightly unstuck and there is a very small area of the loss to the bottom corner of the silk on the front pastedown.
Dimensions approximately 19.3cm x 13.7cm x 2.6cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
