This lovely edition of Elements of Drawing by John Ruskin was published by George Allen in 1902. So the book is from the start of the Edwardian era.
The book is bound in contemporary half Morocco, with marbled paper boards and a blind stamped school insignia in gilt to the front board. The spine features four raised bands and gilt detail. It's in very good condition, with just light fading and wear to the spine. The corners and board edges show light wear, with some loss to the surface of the paper, and there is fading to the edge of the back board near the spine.
Inside, a presentation plate has been removed from the front pastedown; the endpapers are marbled to compliment the boards. The pages show sporadic foxing and there is a small ink stain in the bottom margin of Pages 154 and 155.
The book measures approximately 1cm x 13cm x 3.1cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I'm gradually in the process of switching to more eco-friendly packaging, including 100% recyclable jiffy bags.
