This lovely pocket book of The Story of Books by Gertrude Burford Rawlings was published by George Newnes Ltd in 1901. So the book is from the very end of the Victorian era. It's bound in original blue cloth with pictorial detail to the front.
It's in good condition but the spine is sunned and rubbed, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting to the cloth. The boards show light rubbing and there is minor air bubbling to the cloth. The corners are rubbed.
Inside, the pages show age toning and there is a slight crack to the gutter between pages 48 and 49 - the pages remain tight to the binding.
There are some lovely black and white illustrations inside. Dimensions approximately 15.5cm x 10cm x 1.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
