This stunning edition of My Favourite Books by Robert Blatchford was published by The Clarion Office in 1900. The book explores Blatchford's literary tastes, musing on the classics and authors that deeply influenced his life and worldview - including Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and Victor Hugo. The book is bound in original burgundy cloth with gilt decoration and lettering to the front and spine. Page edges are rough cut.
It's in very good condition and has a removable plastic jacket. There is light wear and crushing to the corners and minor marking to the cloth. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is light sunning to the spine.
Inside, there is heavy foxing to the preliminary and end pages but the rest of the pages are clean and bright with light age toning. There is a penned name to the top corner of the FFEP. Dimensions approximately 16.5cm x 11.5cm x 2.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
