This beautiful edition of Gilly Flower was published by Wells Gardner Darton and Co. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1916. So the book is over 100 years old.
The book is bound in green cloth with pretty pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition considering it's age. The corners are lightly worn and the book has a slight forward lean. The cloth shows minor marking and there is foxing to the text block edges. There is rubbing to the spine edges, and crushing to the spine ends - this crushing has caused very minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is slight cracking to the front hinge and tanning to the endpapers. The pages show sporadic foxing and marking in places.
The book is filled with wonderful black and white illustration plates which add to the charm of this Children's book.
Dimensions approximately 20cm x 14cm x 4.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
