This beautiful vintage edition of The Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott was published by Service and Paton in 1898. It features a stunning binding designed by A.A.Turbayne, and Turbayne's signature scarab beetle can be seen to the front near the bottom left corner. All edges gilt.
Externally, it's in excellent condition with just light rubbing to the corners and spine ends. Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed (for this reason it could not be described as near fine, even though the outer binding is in superb condition).
Inside, as mentioned above, the front free endpaper has been removed and the book opens onto the half title page - this also has a small one inch tear to the edge. The pages show scattered foxing but are otherwise clean and bright.
There are beautiful black and white plates by Charles E Brock throughout the book. Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13.4cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
