This beautiful edition of A History of Gardening in England by The Hon Alicia Amherst was published by Bernard Quaritch in 1895. So the book is late Victorian. It is bound in original green cloth with gilt decoration to the front and spine.

It's a very pretty binding and in good condition. There is light wear to the corners with slight fraying to the cloth. There is a dent near the bottom of the front board, and light marking and rubbing to the boards. The spine is a little rubbed, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the FFEP has been glued to the front pastedown and this has caused a tear where someone tried to separate them. The pages are clean and bright with occasional foxing. Some of the page edges are a little jagged - the book was released with some uncut pages and a previous reader has separated some (but not all) of them. Others remain uncut.
The book features a collection of black and white illustrations within the text.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
