This stunning edition of The Cat of Bubastes A Tale of Ancient Egypt by G A Henty was published by Blackie and Son in 1896. So the book is Victorian, from the 19th Century.
The book is bound in grey cloth with decoration to the front board and spine. The cat is blind stamped to the front board in gilt and really stands out! It's in good condition but the back joint has been repaired where the cloth had split. The book shows a forward lean and there is wear to the corners. The boards show some minor marks, whilst the spine is darkened and rubbed.
Inside, there is slight damage to the front endpaper and there is a neatly written name on the title page. The pages show occasional marking and foxing but are clean and bright. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book features a handful of black and white illustration plates.
