This beautiful vintage edition of Timothy's Quest by Kate Douglas Wiggin was published by Gay and Bird in 1895. So the book is from the late Victorian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with an elaborate gilt angel to the front board. It's a really striking binding and in very good condition for it's age. The book shows a forward lean and there is wear to the corners. The boards are slightly warped and there are some minor marks to the boards. The spine is lightly sunned.
Inside, a piece of paper has been glued to the FFEP - it looks like it might be concealing a presentation plate so someone could write and inscription over the top. The pages show age toning throughout with sporadic foxing. There are cracks to the gutter in places which make the text block feel a little shaky but there are no loose pages. The book features illustrations by Oliver Herford.
