This beautiful vintage edition of Timothy's Quest by Kate Douglas Wiggin was published by Gay and Bird in 1899. So the book is from the very end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in maroon cloth over bevelled boards, with gilt floral decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition with just light wear to the corners and board edges. The book shows a forward lean and there are minor marks to the boards. The spine is slightly sunned and there is minor dulling to the gilt. There is crushing to the spine ends. ***Please note that someone has threaded some thread through the spine - I can't quite work out why! I think they may have resewn some page segments***
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and there is a written inscription in pencil on the half title page. The pages show age toning and some occasional staining but are remarkably clean and bright for their age. The back page segments stick out from the edge of the text block and there is cracking to the hinges.
Dimensions approximately 16.8cm x 11.2cm x 2.2cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
