This beautiful, antique edition of Proverbs in Porcelain by Austin Dobson was published in 1893 by Kegan Paul, Trench and Co. So the book is from the late Victorian era.
The book is bound in green cloth with stunning gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition but there is light wear and crushing to the corners and a slight forward lean to the book. The board edges are rubbed and lightly bumped, and there are some minor marks to the boards. The spine is faintly darkened, with dulling to the gilt, and the spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is light age toning to the pages, with scattered foxing and occasional marking. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book features black and white illustrations by Bernard Partridge.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
