This stunning antique edition of Hood's Humorous Poems was published by Macmillan and Co Ltd in 1893. It features illustrations by Charles Brock, who is best known for illustrating Austen's works. The book was part of the Cranford series by Macmillan, distinctive by their teal cloth bindings and elaborate blind stamped decoration in gilt to the front board and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in very good condition with just some light scuff marks to the front board and a very faint splash mark to the bottom corner of the front board. The spine is very faintly sunned whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there are no inscriptions or writings of any kind. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing - the foxing is particularly heavy to the preliminary and end pages. The tissue guard for the frontispiece is tanned.
The beautiful black and white illustrations make this a real treasure of a book.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
