This beautiful, antique edition of The Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith was published in 1891 by Macmillan and Co. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era. It was part of the Cranford series - books bound in teal cloth, with elaborate gilt decoration. They've become popular with modern day collectors, in part because of Bookstagram.
The book is in very good condition, but does show a slight forward lean, with minor marking and scuffing to the boards. There is some rubbing to the gilt on the front and dulling to the gilt on the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting and loss to the cloth.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with light age age toning and occasional foxing throughout.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
