This stunning antique hardback edition of The Poetical Works of William Cowper was published by W.P Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell in 1890. The book is bound in blue cloth over bevelled boards with floral and gilt decoration to the front and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in good condition but there is wear to the corners and board edges. The boards are bright with minor rubbing and marking. The spine shows dulling and sunning, with rubbing to the spine edges. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is cracking to the front hinge and a penned name and date on the verso of the frontispiece. The pages show age toning, with occasional handling marks and foxing. The book features striking black and white plates which make it a really special book.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13.2cm x 3.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
