This beautiful antique edition of The Professor by Charlotte Bronte was published by Smith, Elder and Co in 1883. So the book is from the latter third of the Victorian era. It also features the Poems of the Bronte sisters.
The book is a little fragile but would still make a lovely reading copy or collector's piece for a Bronte enthusiast. The book shows a forward lean and there is wear to the corners. The board edges are bumped and there is light marking and rubbing to the boards. The spine is darkened and lightly marked, and crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. Some pages stick out a bit from the edge of the text block.
Inside, the hinges are cracked and the first two pages feel loose. There is a neatly written name on the front free endpaper and both endpapers show water staining. The back free endpaper has written annotations and the last section of pages also shows water damage. Thankfully this hasn't affected the text. There is cracking to the gutter in places but other than the first two pages, the rest of the pages feel tightly bound.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
