This beautiful edition of Sea Monsters and Sea Birds by Dr G Hartwig was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1887. It's bound in original publisher's pictorial cloth over bevelled boards. It's a striking binding. All edges gilt.
It's in near fine condition with light wear to the corners and board edges. There is minor marking to the cloth and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a penned name and date to one of the preliminary blank pages, along with a stamped address. The pages are clean and bright with scattered foxing . There occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound. Dimensions approximately 18.7cm x 12.7cm x 2cm. There are some striking black and white illustrations.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
