This lovely edition of The Brook and Its Banks by J G Wood was published by The Religious Tract Society. The book is undated but after some research I'd estimate it to be late Victorian (circa 1890's). The book is bound in original brown cloth with pictorial and gilt decoration to the front board and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in very good condition with just light rubbing to the corners and minor bumping to the board edges. The book shows a slight forward lean. The spine is sunned (slightly darkened) and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a written inscription to the verso of the FFEP (opposite the title page). The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing. The foxing is heaviest to the preliminary and end pages as well as the page edges.
There are striking black and white illustrations throughout which make this an extra special read.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 17cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
