This beautiful edition of Half Hours in the Green Lanes by J.E.Taylor was published by David Bogue in 1879.
This lovely Victorian book is bound in green cloth over bevelled boards, with blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front and spine. There is a school insignia blind stamped in gilt to the back. It's in very good condition with light wear to the corners and minor soiling to the cloth. There is foxing to the text block edges and light wear to the board edges. The spine is darkened and rubbed, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth.
Inside, a presentation plate appears to have been removed from the front free endpaper and there is staining to the frontispiece. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tight to the binding.
The book features beautiful black and white illustrations throughout which make it an extra special read.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
