This stunning antique edition of Scott's Poetical Works was published by William P Nimmo in 1877. So the book is from the mid Victorian era.

The book is bound in green cloth with blind stamped decoration and gold gilt detailing to the front board and spine. It's in good condition for it's age, but the corners show some wear, with slight fraying to the cloth. The front board is lightly marked but the back board shows bleached discolouration and a dark stain. The board edges are rubbed and bumped and the spine edges are also rubbed. The spine is darkened and crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but two of the preliminary pages are detached, including the illuminated title page and frontispiece. There is sporadic foxing and marking but the pages are otherwise in good condition. The paper does show age toning throughout.
The book features a handful of striking black and white illustration plates which make it a really special book.
