This stunning antique edition of Little Wide-Awake A Story Book for Little Children by Mrs Sale Barker was published by George Routledge and Sons in 1877. So the book is from the mid Victorian era. It's beautifully bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards, with stunning blind stamped decoration in gilt and black to the front and spine. The front has an inset colour illustration.
It's in very good condition with minor marking to the boards and some soiling/dulling to part of the front board. The corners show some fraying and wear. There is sunning and dulling to the spine whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting.
Inside, there is occasional foxing and offset toning to the title page. There is cracking to the gutter between the front free endpaper and the frontispiece. The book features an incredible 400 illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 22.8cm x 16.8cm x 2.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
