This stunning antique edition of Rosamund - A Series of Tales by Maria Edgeworth was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1881. So the book is Victorian. It's bound in beige cloth over bevelled boards, with heavily decorated front board and spine. There are two pasted on colour illustrations to the front. All edges gilt.
It's in good condition, but there is wear and crushing to the corners, as well as a slight forward lean to the book. There is some marking to the boards and minor loss/chipping to the pasted on illustrations. Crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth, and there is also a horizontal split near the head of the spine.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front free endpaper and splitting to the hinges (despite this the binding remains sound). The pages are clean and bright with scattered foxing and handling marks.
Dimensions approximately 16.4cm x 11.2cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
