This stunning antique edition of The Quiver of Love features A Collection of Valentine Poetry. It was published by Marcus Ward and Co in 1880 so the book is from the mid to latter Victorian era.
This beautiful book is bound in red cloth with blind stamped decoration in gilt to the front and black to the spine. All edges gilt. It's in good condition but there is rubbing and loss to the gilt decoration and the corners show some wear. The front board has some small black ink stains and the spine is faintly sunned. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the pages show light age toning with occasional foxing and handling marks. There is a two page illuminated title page, as well as four illuminated colour plates attributed to Kate Greenaway (she's not named on the title page, I did some research!).
Dimensions approximately 15.5cm x 11.2cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
