This stunning antique edition of The Poems of Oliver Goldsmith was published by George Routledge and Sons in 1877. So the book is from the mid Victorian era. It's beautifully bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards, with stunning blind stamped decoration in gilt and black to the front and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in near fine condition, with just some wear and slight splitting/fraying to the cloth at the corners. The book has a slight forward lean and there is bumping to the board edges.
Inside, the book has contemporary endpapers and the pages are clean and bright with only light age toning and foxing. The stunning colour illustrations help bring to life what it was like living in the English Countryside in the 19th Century.
Dimensions approximately 22.8cm x 16.8cm x 2.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
