This stunning French book Le Chateau de la Roche Morin features a beautiful and romantic binding known as a Cartonnage binding, with gilt and grey decoration. The book was published in 1845. These bindings have become increasingly popular over the past couple of years due to the incredible workmanship that has gone into the binding. They're little works of art.
The book is in good condition but there is wear and crushing to the corners, with the card split to reveal the board beneath. There is also wear and minor loss to the surface of the board edges. The front is dulled compared to the back and there is slight creasing to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor loss.
Inside, there is a small name plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing and marking. Some of the top corners have been dog eared by a previous reader which has left creasing behind.
Dimensions approximately 14.7cm x 8.9cm x 1.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
