These beautiful antique Italian books feature the epic poem Orlando Furioso written by Ludovico Ariosto. The earliest version appeared in the 1500's which makes this 1846 two volume edition seem very young!
The books are bound in quarter vellum, with red leather title labels and gilt decoration to the spines. They're in good condition but there is soiling, marking and darkening to the vellum. There is rubbing and scuffing to the boards, with some minor loss to the paper, particularly at the corners. The board edges show shelf wear, with some bumping and chipping to the paper.
Inside, there are name plates glued to the front pastedowns and the pages show age toning and sporadic foxing. The text is clear and bright.
Dimensions of each volume approximately 17.8cm x 12cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).I’m
