This beautiful edition of The Young Englishwoman is A Volume of Pure Literature, New Fashions and Pretty Needlework Designs and was published by Ward, Lock and Co in 1872. So the book is mid Victorian. It's bound in half calf with five raised bands and a leather title label to the spine.
It's in good condition, but there is wear and loss to the surface of the leather at the corners and spine. Crushing to the corners has caused splitting to the leather with the board peeking through. The boards show some rubbing and marking and the spine is sunned and scuffed. There is a small split to the top of the front joint and the book shows a forward lean.
Inside, the pages show age toning and foxing throughout. There is loss to the bottom corner of one plate.
There are fold out illustrations and needlework designs which really add to the charm of this antique book. The colour fashion plates are particularly striking and provide a wonderful insight into the Victorian era.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
