This beautiful edition of The Ladies' Treasury; An Illustrated Magazine of Entertaining Literature, Education, Fine Art, Domestic Economy, Needlework and Fashion was published by Cassell, Petter and Calpin in 1860. It's bound in half calf over marbled boards. There is gilt tooling and a leather title label to the spine. five raised bands, gilt detail and a leather title label to the spine.
It's in good condition, but there is significant wear and loss to the leather at the corners. There is wear to the boards and board edges and light marking to the boards. The spine and parts of the leather covering the boards is faded. There is significant wear to the leather on the spine, which has removed the surface of the leather.
Inside, the pages show slight age toning and there is heavier foxing to the preliminary and end pages. There is a very small tear to the edge of the frontispiece and a larger 3cm tear to the edge of Page 9. There are occasional handling marks and creasing, with sporadic foxing.
There are a wide variety of black and white illustrations, including some fold out plates. There are also fashion plates and needlework designs.
Dimensions approximately 26.5cm x 18.7cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
