This lovely edition of Rhymes for the Nursery by Ann and Jane Taylor was published by T Nelson and Sons in 1884. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era. It is bound in brown cloth with beautiful blind stamped decoration in black to the boards and spine. The front board features a beautiful pasted on illustration and there is gilt to the spine.

It's in very good condition but there is wear and crushing to the corners and minor marks to the boards. There is light shelf wear to the board edges and a small bump to the edge of the back board. The spine is faintly sunned whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there are several names and dates to the front endpaper and the endpapers are noticeably tanned. There is scattered marking and foxing throughot and some of the rhymes have pencilled notes added to the page, mostly noting that the child had to learn the rhyme by heart as punishment for a misdemeanour.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
