This beautiful Victorian edition of From Month to Month A Birthday Souvenir was published by Meissner and Buch. The book is undated but after doing some online research, I'd estimate it to be 1880's. There is a penned inscription dated 1895.
The book is bound in red cloth over bevelled boards, with stunning pictorial and gilt decoration to the front. It's a stunning binding and the cloth has floral decoration which can be seen in certain lights. All edges gilt. It's in very good condition but the book shows a slight backwards lean and fading to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused slight splitting in the cloth. The cloth shows minor marking and there is light wear to the corners.
Inside, there is a written inscription to the reverse of the FFEP. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout, with occasional creasing. Many of the slots have been filled in - with birth dates of various people, but also some pencilled drawings and penned verse. It's a lovely book to peruse.
The book features beautiful chromolithographic illustrations which make this book that little bit more special.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-Stunndegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
