This stunning and scarce little edition of Etiquette for Gentlemen or The Principles of True Politeness was published by Milner and Sowerby in 1851. It is a Victorian guide detailing strict social codes for gentlemen, focusing on chivalry, formal introductions, and proper deportment. Pocket sized to slip easily into a Gentleman's pocket.
It's a tiny little book bound in red cloth with flexible covers and gilt to the front. It's in good condition but there is marking to the cloth and faint water staining to the back. There is wear to the corners and edges, causing minor loss in the cloth. There is also a one inch split to the bottom of the front joint.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and the pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout, with occasional staining and creasing. The old water marking to the back cover can also be seen to the back few pages. There is one hand coloured plate in the form of the frontispiece.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
