This stunning edition of A Tour Round my Garden was translated from the original French of Alphonse Karr and revised and edited by Rev J G Wood was published by Frederick Warne and Col The book is undated but I’d estimate it to be circa 1880’s/1890’s. It's bound in original red cloth over bevelled boards with blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine.
The book is in near fine condition with light sunning to the spine and crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The corners show light wear.
Inside, a penned inscription on the FFEP has offset to the following page which is also noticeably tanned. The pages are clean and bright with very occasional foxing. There are some cracks to the gutter in places but no loose pages. There are numerous black and white illustrations within the text.
Dimensions approximately 19.4cm x 15.1cm x 3.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
