This stunning edition of My Feathered Friends by Rev J G Wood was published by G Routledge and Co in 1858. It's bound in original blue cloth with blind stamped decoration and gilt to the front board and spine.
The book is in very good condition with light rubbing to the corners, board and board edges. The spine edges re also rubbed and crushing to the spine ends has caused a horizontal split in the cloth near the top of the spine.
Inside, the hinges are slightly cracked but the pages remain tightly bound. There is a penned name on the front free endpaper. The pages are clean and bright with foxing and age toning to the plates. There are occasional small marks and stains where flowers have been pressed between pages but only one pressed flower remains that I can see. There are numerous black and white illustration plates.
Dimensions approximately 17.2cm x 11.3cm x 3.1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
