This stunning edition of Our Garden Friends and Foes by Rev J G Wood was published by Routledge, Warne and Routledge in 1864.It's bound in original green cloth with blind stamped decoration and gilt to the front board and spine.
The book is in very good condition with light wear and bumping to the corners and there is rubbing to the board edges - this has caused minor splitting to the cloth at the top of the boards. There are minor marks to the cloth and the spine is a little dulled and rubbed. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the hinges are cracked and there is a pencilled name on the verso of the frontispiece. There are also cracks to the gutter in places but no loose pages. The pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing and handling marks. There are numerous black and white illustrations within the text and 8 black and white plates (one for the frontispiece and seven at the rear of the book).
Dimensions approximately 19.4cm x 14.1cm x 3.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
