This beautiful antique edition of Marvels of Animal Life by Charles Frederick Holder was published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington. The book itself is undated but there is a pencilled name inside dated 1885. The book is bound in blue cloth with pictorial detail and gilt lettering to the front and spine. Top edge gilt.
The book is in very good condition but there is light wear and bumping to the corners and a very slight forward lean to the book. The blue cloth shows light marking and the spine is sunned with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a pencilled name and date to one of the preliminary blank pages. The pages show age toning throughout with sporadic foxing and marking. The book features striking black and white plates. Dimensions approximately 20.5cm x 15.3cm x 3.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
