This beautiful edition of The Ladies' Treasury; An Illustrated Magazine of Entertaining Literature, Education, Fine Art, Domestic Economy, Needlework and Fashion was published by Cassell, Petter and Calpin in 1864. It's bound in blue cloth with blind stamped decoration and gilt to the front and spine.
It's in very good condition, with light wear and crushing to the corners. The boards show minor marks but the spine is sunned, with a small hole in the cloth to the back joint. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a name plate to the front pastedown and some writing to the FFEP. There is a small stain to the bottom of the hinge. The pages are clean and bright with light age toning. There is sporadic foxing.
There are a wide variety of black and white illustrations and a few colour plates.
Dimensions approximately 27.3cm x 19.7cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
