This stunning antique edition of The Poetical Works of Alexander Pope was published by Routledge, Warne and Routledge in 1860. So the book is from the earlier part of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in pebbled blue cloth with blind stamped detail and gilt to the front board and spine. It's a really pretty book that has held up very well for it's 165 years of age. There is light wear to the corners and board edges. The spine ends are crushed which has caused minor splitting in the cloth, and the spine is very faintly sunned.
Inside, there is creasing to the preliminary pages but no written inscriptions. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. There are some small pieces of card that have been used as bookmarks tucked inside.
Dimensions approximately 17.5cm x 11.8cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
