This wonderful edition of Historic Romance; Strange Stories, Characters, Scenes, Mysteries and Memorable Events in the History of Old England by William Andrews was published by Hamilton, Adams and Company in 1883. It's bound in original forest green cloth over bevelled boards with blind stamped detail in black and gilt to the front and spine. It has a removable clear plastic jacket.
It's in very good condition, with light wear to the corners and bumping to the board edges. There is light foxing to the text block edges and minor marking to the cloth. The spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is a penned name to the front pastedown and stamped initials to the top corner of the front free endpaper. The pages are clean and bright with occasional foxing and handling marks. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions of each volume approximately 18.8cm x 13.2cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
