This fascinating antique edition of Remarkable Trials and Notorious Characters was published in John Camden. The book is undated but after some research, I can date it to the 1870's.
The book is bound in original green cloth with gilt to the front and spine. It's in good condition but there is wear to the board edges and corners, which has caused the cloth to split at the corners. The boards show some rubbing and marking, and the spine is noticeably sunned and dulled. Crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting and loss to the cloth.
Inside, the book has new endpapers and the pages show light age toning throughout, with occasional handling marks. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places, revealing the binding thread, but the pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 19.2cm x 13.3cm x 4.6cm. The book features black and white plates which bring some of these grisly true stories to life.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
