This stunning French book La Croix de Bois was published in 1890 and features a stunning pale brown card binding with gilt, black and red decoration to the boards and spine. The front has stunning floral detail.
Antiquarian French books have become increasingly popular in recent years - they are often little works of art, with stunning gilt work and brightly coloured bindings.
The book is in good condition with the main flaw being a split to the top of the external hinges. The bottom corners are bumped and there is minor marking to the binding. The spine is lightly rubbed and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a loose presentation plate tucked inside. The pages show age toning throughout, with scattered foxing and occasional handling marks. Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 11.3cm x 1.1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
