This beautiful antique edition of Records of Female Piety by James Huie was published by Oliver and Boyd in 1842. It features a full calf leather binding with gilt tooling and four raised bands to the spine. The text block edges are marbled. The book comprises Sketches of the Lives and Extracts from the Writings of Women Eminent in Religious Excellence - including, but not limited to, Queen Mary II, Hannah More and Catherine Parr.
It's in good condition but wear to the spine edges, board edges and corners has caused some loss to the surface of the leather. There is chipping to the leather spine, whilst the boards show noticeable scuffs, bumps and marks. Slight splitting has just started to the top and bottom of the front joint - still very secure though.
Inside, there are marbled endpapers and a bookseller's sticker in the top corner of the front pastedown. There is minor surface damage to the front pastedown and title page. Please note there is a tear to the page opposite the end page. If there was a half title page, it's been removed.
Book dimensions approximately 16.7cm x 10.8cm x 2.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
