This stunning little velvet bound edition of The Book of Common Prayer was published in 1854. So the book is early Victorian. It has brass edges and a brass clasp. All edges are gilt.
It's in good condition, with the most noticeable wear being the splitting to the velvet at the external joints. The brass components are lightly marked and there is some minor marking to the text block edges.
Inside, all pages before the title page have been removed and the hinge has been reinforced with tape. The pages are clean and bright with only minor age toning and very occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 12.7cm x 8.5cm x 4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
