This beautiful full Morocco edition of The Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was published by George Routledge in 1853. So the book is from the early Victorian era. It's bound in full Morocco leather with stunning gilt decoration to the boards and spine. The spine has five raised bands; all edges gilt.
It's in very good condition but wear to the corners and board edges has taken off a little of the surface of the leather. There is light rubbing to the spine and raised bands.
Inside, there are gilt inner dentelles and a bookseller's sticker to the top corner of the front pastedown. The pages show sporadic foxing - most prominent to the black and white plates.
Dimensions approximately 16.9cm x 11.1cm x 3.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
