This wonderful edition of Walker's Manly Exercises was published by H G Bohn in 1855. So the book is from the earlier part of the Victorian era. What's particularly lovely is that it's bound in original embossed green cloth with gilt lettering and details to the spine. The "manly exercises" include rowing, sailing, riding, driving, racing, hunting and shooting.
It's in very good condition, with the main flaw being the sunning to the spine and crushing to the spine ends. There is spotting to the bottom edge of the text block and a vertical crease to the back board where it's been bumped. The top corner of the front board is also bumped.
Inside, the pages show minimal age toning and no foxing. There are no inscriptions. A handful of pages have been dog eared by a past reader, leaving creasing behind. There are also a few superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book features wonderful black and white plates displaying these manly exercises!

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
