This lovely edition of Manual of the Land and Fresh-Water Shells of the British Islands by William Turton was published by John Edward Gray in 1857. It has been rebound in quarter Morocco, over marbled boards, with five raised bands and a leather title label to the spine.
It's in very good condition with faint sunning and scuffing to the spine. The title is rubbed and hard to make out. There is light rubbing to the board edges and corners.
Inside, the pages show age toning and scattered foxing throughout. There is a penned inscription on the half title page. The book features 12 colour plates at the rear of the book and numerous black and white line drawings within the text.
Dimensions approximately 19.4cm x 13.2cm x 3.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
