This book is volume 2 in what would have been a two volume set. It was published in 1892 by Lawrence and Bullen and is numbered 88 of 200 (it was a very limited print run of just 200). Inside, it features handmade paper and the binding is by the prestigious Zaehnsdorf - a binder renowned for it's exquisite fine leather bindings (stamped inside).
It is bound in half Morocco with marbled paper covered boards. There is stunning gilt work in a delicate floral pattern to the spine. Top edge gilt.
It's in very good condition but bumping to the top corners has caused very slight damage and splitting to the leather. The spine is sunned and discoloured, with light wear to the spine ends.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with minimal wear. There is a name plate glued to the front pastedown and tanning to the edges of the free endpapers. Some of the pages remain uncut which is incredible after 135 years of life!
Dimensions approximately 18.1cm x 10.8cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
