This stunning antique French book of Les Jeunes Français de Toutes les époques was published in Paris. The book is undated but after some research, I'd estimate it to be circa 1840's. The binding is incredibly striking, with blind stamped gilt and raised colour decoration to the boards and spine. All edges gilt.
"Les jeunes français de toutes les époques, types et nouvelles historiques, etudes de moeurs, education, occupations, conditions civiles, relations de famille, costumes, coutumes etc. de la jeunesse française depuis l'origine de la monarchie jusqu'à nos jours". English Translation - "Young French people of all eras, types and historical news, studies of manners, education, occupations, civil conditions, family relations, costumes, customs etc. of French youth from the origin of the monarchy to the present day."
It's in very good condition but bumping to the bottom corners has caused very minor damage. There are some light marks to the cloth and the spine ends are bumped.
Inside, there is very heavy foxing and age staining throughout. Nevertheless, the text is easily legible and the plates remain very beautiful. Large format book.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
