This stunning French book Elise et Celine ou Une Veritable Amie was published in 1880 and features a stunning purple card binding with gilt and black decoration to the boards and spine.
Antiquarian French books have become increasingly popular in recent years - they are often little works of art, with stunning gilt work and brightly coloured bindings.
The book is in good condition but there is fading to the spine which purple bindings are particularly prone to. There is a little loss to the spine ends and slight discolouration to the boards. The board edges are worn, with some surface loss to the purple card. Bumping to the two top corners has caused slight damage.
Inside, the pages show age toning and foxing throughout. Dimensions approximately 14.7cm x 8.9cm x 1.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
