This beautiful French Catholic Prayer Book called Le Petit Paroissien Romain was published in Avignon in 1804. It features a full leather binding with intricate gilt to the boards and spine. The spine also features four raised bands a leather title label. All edges gilt.
It's in very good condition with light soiling and marking to the leather. There is wear to the corners and board edges and minor rubbing to the gilt in places. The spine has a little loss to the surface of the leather and a small hole in the leather near the bottom of the spine. There is rubbing and dulling to the gilt text block edges.
Inside, the pages show age toning and heavy foxing throughout. There is some damage and loss to the edges of Pages 1 -15 (see photos).
Dimensions approximately 14.3cm x 9cm x 4cm. The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
